Aftercare Instructions
Proper care following your procedure is necessary to achieve the best results. Please review these instructions carefully.
Day 1: Initial Recovery
Immediately following your procedure, gently blot the treated area with a clean, dry tissue to absorb any excess lymph fluid. This clear fluid is a natural part of healing, but allowing it to sit can cause heavy scabbing. Repeat this every 5 to 15 minutes for the remainder of the day until oozing stops. Keeping the area clean today ensures a thin, healthy flake rather than a thick crust.
Days 1-7: The Daily Two-Step Routine
To ensure proper healing, follow this two-step process every morning and night.
- Cleanse: Gently wash the area for 10 seconds using a fragrance-free, antibacterial soap (like Cetaphil or Dial) and lukewarm water. Rinse thoroughly and pat bone-dry with a clean tissue. Do not use products containing acids or exfoliants.
- Protect: Once the skin is completely dry, use a cotton swab to apply a tiny, rice-grain-sized amount of aftercare ointment. The skin should have a slight sheen but should not look 'goopy.' Over-applying can suffocate the skin and delay healing.
Important Reminders & Restrictions
For the best results, please adhere to the following:
- Use a fresh pillowcase and avoid sleeping on your face for 10 days.
- Let all scabbing or dry skin exfoliate naturally; picking causes scarring and patchy color.
- Avoid hot, sweaty exercise, long hot showers, swimming, and saunas for 10 days.
- No makeup or sunscreen on the area for 2 weeks.
- Postpone facials, Botox, or chemical treatments for 4 weeks.
- Avoid direct sun exposure and tanning for 30 days to prevent pigment shifting.
What to Expect During Healing
- Your permanent makeup will appear darker and bolder than expected for the first few days.
- Flaking and crusting is normal. Do not pick at the scabs.
- The color will fade up to 40% as it heals.
- It takes a full 4-6 weeks for the true color to surface.
